At a Sept 1 hearing (docket confirmed; reported Sept 3–4) Judge Palumbo denies State Farm's motion to excuse CEO Jon Farney from deposition — the chief executive must answer questions under oath. The court also orders 31 more withheld documents disclosed and warns of sanctions over State Farm's production tactics. The same hearing took up plaintiffs' motion to strike State Farm's blanket confidentiality assertions (now set for Sept 28). Days earlier (Aug 31) State Farm filed an emergency motion for 180 more days to answer discovery. Re-designation deadline in West (may move). Judge Sheperd’s August 20 order struck State Farm’s blanket “Confidential” stamp and gave it 30 days to justify secrecy document by document; anything not re-designated by this date “is DE-DESIGNATED.” State Farm asked on Sept 3 to push the deadline to about Oct 21, citing 55,913 documents to re-review; the homeowners oppose; ruling pending.
